The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate courses and English-taught general education courses in Chinese Language and Literature. The position is offered on an academic-year basis and is renewable annually, subject to satisfactory performance review. Preferred areas of specialization include Chinese Language Pedagogy and East Asian Language and Cultural Studies. Qualifications Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree from an accredited university (recognized by the Ministry of Education, R.O.C.) or already possess the rank of Assistant Professor or above, and must be able to teach graduate courses as well as offer English-taught general education courses in Chinese Language and Literature. Within the past five years prior to the application deadline, candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria: (1) Publication of refereed journal articles that have been formally published or officially accepted with proofs of forthcoming publication. (2) Publication of a scholarly book with proofs of peer review and formal circulation. Application Deadline: Applications must be received by March 8, 2026. A complete list of publications (including title, publisher/journal, and date of publication). For journal articles, please indicate whether they are listed in TSSCI, SSCI, SCI, A&HCI, THCI Core, CSSCI, or SCOPUS. Representative publications within the past five years (maximum of five works) must be submitted with both peer-review and publication certificates. Non-Chinese publications must be accompanied by a Chinese abstract. A list of courses the candidate is able to teach, along with course syllabi (downloadable syllabus format available on the program’s website). Proofs of teaching experience (such as syllabi of previously taught courses and teaching evaluations). Any additional supporting documents that may strengthen the application. Time: 2026/1/20（二）10:00am-12:10pm Venue: 達賢圖書館8樓814室 Lecturer: Dr. Tomáš Gráf Department of Linguistics, Department of English Language and ELT Methodology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague This lecture outlines my fifteen-year journey in designing and compiling learner corpora, from early work on general collections to more recent efforts to build specialist corpora exploring advanced English learners’ fluency and accuracy and the language of specialist users. Along the way, my understanding of what learner corpora can (and cannot!) tell us has evolved, in which process I was helped by both practical experience and constant methodological reflection. I will share key findings from my research and use these to illustrate how different elicitation tasks and design choices influence what we discover about learner language. Through examples from several corpora I have developed, I aim to show how methodological awareness grows with practice, and how principled corpus design can assist us in exploring second language learning.

Time: Thursday, November 6, 2025, 12:30PM - 2:00 PM  Venue: Ji-tao Bldg. 340313 Lecturer: Dr. Alexander Adelaar / Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne & Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Asian Studies, Palacký University (Olomouc) Topic:  Anticipating sequences in West Formosan languages: Formal aspects, spread, applications, origins  Abstract: Anticipating sequences are elements of the main verb that are prefixed to the auxiliary (which as a rule precedes the main verb). These elements are usually formal, typically constituting the first one or two syllables of the lexical verb. However, other elements show some semantic or emblematic agreement with the main verb. In this talk I discuss the geographical and sociolinguistic spread of anticipating sequences. I also discuss their possible origins both with regard to their individual forms as to their appearance as a category. Anticipating sequences occur in West Formosan languages including (at least) Saisiyat, Thao, Bunun, Lha'aloa, Siraya. Bio: Dr. Alexander Adelaar is a Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne and a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Asian Studies, Palacký University (Olomouc). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Humanities Australia and associated member of the Académie Malgache. Article 19 of National Chengchi University Regulations : Master and Ph.D. students taking master/doctoral/undergraduate courses and undergraduate students taking courses that require course fees are all required to pay credit fees according to the tuition and fee schedules provided by the units offering courses for the corresponding degrees. Undergraduate students who have their graduation deferred in order to supplement or make up a course shall pay credit fees at the standard rate charged for undergraduate courses by the unit offering the course. Undergraduate students shall pay credit fees if they take retake already-passed courses for the third time or more. All students of the University are required to pay fees for using computer and network communication facilities. Students who use the language and audiovisual facilities in the Foreign Language Center shall pay the language learning equipment fee. Students will be given a grade of zero during course assessment if they fail to pay the fees above within the given deadline. Students who have been approved to make retroactive payments before the suspension of study deadline of the current semester should be charged late fees in addition to the original fees. Late fees are calculated according to the number of days past due. It is calculated as 1% of the original fee for every two days past due, up to a maximum of 15% of the original fee and less than NT$2,000. VI.
