Description:
The PhD/MA Program in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL) at National Chengchi University (NCCU) invites applications for one full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or above, beginning in August 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate courses and English-taught general education courses in Chinese Language and Literature. The position is offered on an academic-year basis and is renewable annually, subject to satisfactory performance review. Preferred areas of specialization include Chinese Language Pedagogy and East Asian Language and Cultural Studies.
Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree from an accredited university (recognized by the Ministry of Education, R.O.C.) or already possess the qualification of Assistant Professor or above.
- Within the past five years prior to the application deadline, candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
(1) Publication of refereed journal articles that have been formally published or officially accepted with proofs of forthcoming publication.
(2) Publication of a scholarly book with proofs of peer review and formal circulation.
(3) Ability to teach graduate courses and offer English-taught general education courses in Chinese Language and Literature.
Application Deadline: Applications must be received by March 8, 2026.
Application Materials
- Completed application form (downloadable from the program’s website).
- Copies of relevant certificates (including Ph.D. diploma, teaching certificate, doctoral transcript, current employment certificate, academic awards, etc.). All documents must be signed by the candidate. Diplomas earned abroad must be authenticated by an R.O.C. overseas mission.
- A complete list of publications (including title, publisher/journal, and date of publication). For journal articles, please indicate whether they are listed in TSSCI, SSCI, SCI, A&HCI, THCI Core, CSSCI, or SCOPUS. Representative publications within the past five years (maximum of five works) must be submitted with both peer-review and publication certificates. Non-Chinese publications must be accompanied by a Chinese abstract.
- A list of courses the candidate is able to teach, along with course syllabi (downloadable syllabus format available on the program’s website).
- Proofs of teaching experience (such as syllabi of previously taught courses and teaching evaluations).
- Any additional supporting documents that may strengthen the application.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide three hard copies of all application materials and will be invited for an on-site interview.
