Description:
The PhD/MA Program in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL) at National Chengchi University (NCCU) invites applications for one full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or above, beginning in February 2027 or August 1, 2027. The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate-level courses and English-medium general education courses. The position is offered on an academic-year basis and is renewable annually, subject to satisfactory performance review. Preferred areas of specialization include Chinese Language Pedagogy and East Asian Language and Cultural Studies.

Rank and Number of Positions:
One full-time faculty position is available at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The anticipated start date is February 1, 2027, or August 1, 2027. The position will remain open until filled.

Areas of Specialization:

  1. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language, East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies, or a related field from a domestic or international institution.
  2. The successful candidate will be required to offer and teach general education courses in EMI (English-Medium Instruction) at the university.

Qualifications:

  1. Applicants who have not yet obtained a teaching certificate will undergo a teacher qualification review in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s “Regulations for the Review of Faculty Qualifications at Post-secondary Institutions.”
  2. Within the five years prior to the application deadline, applicants must have publications that have been reviewed and formally published, either journal articles (with peer-review verification) or scholarly monographs formally reviewed and published.

Number of Positions: One position is available.

Application Materials (Electronic Files / Scans) :

  1. Completed application form (electronic file available for download at https://tcsl.nccu.edu.tw/PageDoc/Detail?fid=1732&id=39428 ).
  2. Copy of Ph.D. diploma (foreign degrees must be authenticated by an overseas R.O.C. mission).
  3. Copy of doctoral transcript (foreign transcripts must be authenticated by an overseas R.O.C. mission) and copy of teaching certificate.
  4. Doctoral dissertation, and publications reviewed and formally published within the past five years, including journal articles (peer-review verification required), or specialized works formally reviewed and published.
  5. A complete list of publications (including title, publisher/journal, and date of publication). For journal articles, please indicate whether they are listed in TSSCI, SSCI, SCI, A&HCI, THCI Core, CSSCI, or SCOPUS. Representative publications within the past five years (maximum of five works) must be submitted with both peer-review and publication certificates. Non-Chinese publications must be accompanied by a Chinese abstract.
  6. A list of 3 to 5 courses that the applicant is able to teach (please follow the format provided in the appendix).
  7. A list of Chinese language teaching materials previously used, along with syllabi or course schedules for 2 to 3 courses (if available).

Applicants who pass the preliminary review must provide three hard copies of the application materials and attend an in-person interview. Please kindly note that travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
